This work was meant to draw crowds and required a sensational treatment. The client wanted a display that would verify this piece as groundbreaking, otherworldly, and as an icon of an historic moment in contemporary art. In addition to creating a design that would successfully communicate these ideas, it was crucial the environment would work with the highly reflective materiality of the object, and display it beautifully. In addition to the mirrored surface, the domed forms reflected more of the room than the human eye could see at once. It could not be lit like a standard object, as the light source would be completed absorbed in the reflection. I illuminated the room in order to light the sculpture. It was a fantastic challenge, and the result was transformative.
